The route starts in Betten Dorf. Follow the hiking path west out of the village towards Goppisberg, which you reach in about 30 minutes. Pass through the small Valais village and follow the gravel path. You will pass through a forest and between avalanche protections to reach Greich in about 30 minutes. Then follow the path downhill to Ried-Mörel. On this also approximately 30-minute section, you will pass the distinctive middle station of the Mörel – Riederalp cable car and cross the Grossen Graben on a narrow but comfortably passable path. When you arrive in Ried-Mörel, you have two options. You can take the gondola down to Mörel-Filet and then the train to Betten valley station. Or you can take the cable car up to the Riederalp and hike via the Aletsch promenade to the Bettmeralp. Note: If you start this route with the culture learning path from Bettmeralp – Betten Dorf, you can extend the route into a circular hike.
