• Use only marked hiking trails and follow all signs and instructions – for your own safety, to protect livestock, and without disturbing the peace of wildlife.

• Behave considerately towards other trail users and the landscape. Take your waste and the waste of others with you.

• Carry additional sunscreen. UV rays at altitude can be very strong, especially in winter, even in cloudy weather.

• Plan your hike carefully: take into account the fitness of all participants, weather forecasts and seasonal conditions.

• Weather conditions in the mountains can change very quickly and without warning. Appropriate clothing and sufficient provisions (food and drink) are very important. In unstable weather, it's better to turn back early.

• Do not go on glaciers without a mountain guide.

• Observe warning signals indicating danger, especially avalanche risk.

• Inform others about your route and never go alone if possible.

Via Cantonal Road 19 to the Bettmeralp valley station exit. Take the Bettmeralp aerial cableway (Aletsch Bahnen AG) up to Bettmeralp.
