Start: Bettmeralp, mountain station Bettmeralp cable car
Destination: Bettmersee

From the mountain station of the Bettmeralp cable car, walk eastward to the Schömbiel or Wurzenbord chairlift. One of these two facilities is operational during the summer months and will bring you to the starting point of the theme route. The marmot learning trail leads you down to Bettmersee. At four information stations you will learn interesting facts about marmots on this easy hike. The chances to observe the shy animals are good.

Note: Please check in advance which of the two lifts – Schömbiel chairlift or Wurzenbord chairlift – is operating during your stay.

Directions & Parking facilities

Via cantonal road 19 to the Bettmeralp valley station exit. Take the Bettmeralp cable car (Aletsch Bahnen AG) up to Bettmeralp.

Large paid parking lot/parking garage at the valley station of the Bettmeralp cable car (Aletsch Bahnen AG).

By train from Brig or Oberwald to Bettmeralp valley station. Take the Bettmeralp cable car (Aletsch Bahnen AG) up to Bettmeralp.
