  • Start: Fiescheralp
  • Destination: Fiescheralp

From Fiescheralp it starts off easy – 300 meters of elevation on a steadily ascending gravel road. Perfect for warming up and catching your breath. Then it gets special: you enter an unlit tunnel on the Märjela Enduro Loop, about 1 km long. Cool, wet, pitch dark – bring a light or get your smartphone ready. Those who have experienced it talk about it.

After a few minutes in the dark tunnel, the Märjela area shines all the more and offers you a unique scenery.

On the way back, you can either take it easy on the same Aletsch Enduro Trail or go technically challenging on the single trail from the Märjela lake. After a short climb, you circle around the Täligrat – and get full view again of the Fiesch Glacier in the Aletsch Arena. Then the descent begins: rocky, demanding, partly exposed. For strong riders, the Märjela Enduro Loop is rideable throughout. Just before the finish, there is one last climb – then you roll back to the Fiescheralp.

Important: The return trail is only recommended for experienced riders.

Highlights

  • 10-minute hike to the Platta – Aletsch Glacier up close and views to the Jungfraujoch.
  • Stop at the Gletscherstube restaurant with typical hearty mountain hut specialties
  • Exposed, rocky enduro section with depth
  • Panoramic views of the Fiesch and Aletsch glaciers

Trail signage: Follow the red signs with white biker symbol and the black sticker with the abbreviation MÄL – which stands for Märjela Enduro Loop.

Note: At the trail entry and at changes between different difficulty levels, the respective difficulty is indicated.

Important: Respect hikers and nature in the Aletsch Arena – ride with attitude.

Insider tips:

  • If you just want to chill: head to Märjela, jump into the cold mountain lake & back – without trail stress
  • Add the Martisberg Enduro Trail – for even more vertical meters.

Message:

Do you want to feel the glacier in a double pack? Trail view of the Fiesch Glacier, hike to the Aletsch Glacier. Two glaciers, two perspectives – one loop.
