You start from Bettmeralp and cross the village to the mountain station of the cable car at the western end of the village. Along the way, you pass the chapel Maria zum Schnee and typical Valais chalets.
From the village end, you hike along the Aletschpromenade towards Riederalp West. After leaving the beautiful mountain forest behind, you enter open terrain: The impressive panoramic view of the Mischabel group, the Matterhorn, Weisshorn, down into the Rhone Valley and to Riederalp West is now your constant companion.

Via cantonal road 19 to the exit Bettmeralp valley station. Then take the Bettmeralp cable car (Aletsch Bahnen AG) up to Bettmeralp.
Large paid parking garage at the valley station of the Bettmeralp cable car (Aletsch Bahnen AG).
Take the train from Brig or Oberwald to Bettmeralp valley station. Then take the Bettmeralp cable car (Aletsch Bahnen AG) up to Bettmeralp.
