  • Start: Bettmeralp, cable car mountain station
  • Destination: Bettmeralp, cable car mountain station

The Bettmeralp cable car mountain station is the starting point of the route. Hike eastwards, passing the Maria zum Schnee chapel, through the village and up to Bettmersee. Here, take the path on the west side of the lake. Via Blausee and Breite Bodu, hike up to the Moosfluh glacier railway mountain station. At the viewpoint, a breathtaking panoramic view awaits you of the Great Aletsch Glacier and the four-thousanders of Valais! From there, follow the path eastwards to Biel and then downhill to the Chatzulecher Lakes that shimmer directly at the glacier edge. The return route leads back the same way to Biel, where you switch back to the south side to start the last stage: the descent to Bettmeralp. Note: By taking the Moosfluh glacier railway to the viewpoint, you can shorten the route. To do this, hike westwards from the starting point along the Aletsch promenade to Riederalp (approx. 25 min).
