After starting at Hotel Aletsch on Bettmeralp, you take on the small climb to Bettmersee. There you run westwards, first along the lake for a bit, then further over mountain meadows to the Gopplerlücke. After a short forest section, you follow the hiking trail that runs above the Riederalp golf course. After this about 4.4 km long section, you begin the ascent to the Riederfurka. Once there, you switch to the path that leads up and around the Riederhorn (2,230 m above sea level). Overwhelming panoramic views of the Valais mountains accompany you constantly on this section. Back at the Riederfurka, the trail route leads through the unique Aletschwald forest to the "Breitebode" (approx. 5 km). Ancient Swiss stone pines repeatedly open the view to the Great Aletsch Glacier on this section. On the following descent, you pass the Blausee, continue to the Bettmersee, circle it, and then run the last meters down to Bettmeralp.
