Stoneman Glaciara Hike - the extraordinary hiking and trail running experience in the Aletsch Arena

The Stoneman Glaciara Hike is an exceptional hiking and trail running experience for anyone looking for alpine challenges and spectacular nature experiences. The route is around 65 kilometers long with an elevation gain of 3,150 meters and leads through the Aletsch Arena and Goms - past mystical mountain landscapes, over impressive suspension bridges and along the imposing Great Aletsch Glacier, the largest glacier in the Alps. Magnificent views of numerous four-thousand-metre peaks and unforgettable panoramic sections in the Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch UNESCO World Heritage Site await you.

You decide how you want to organize your personal adventure: Complete the route in one day (gold), two days (silver) or three days (bronze). While gold is reserved for technically experienced trail runners with very strong fitness levels, silver and bronze also offer ambitious hikers an intensive alpine experience.

The season runs from July 1 to October 25. Within this period, you decide when you want to start. The Stoneman Glaciara is not a competition, but your personal challenge - at your own pace.

The route is well signposted in an anti-clockwise direction. The characteristic Stoneman Hike figures mark the route on hiking signposts or directly on the ground. With the starter packs, available at the official distribution points and as a house guest at the Stoneman Glaciara accommodation partners, you will also receive a detailed route map with an overview of the stages and route information.

To protect nature and wildlife, the Stoneman Glaciara may only be completed in daylight. The permitted times are:

• July: 7.00-21.00
• August: 7.00-20.30
• September: 7.30-19.30
• October: 8.30-18.30
