Snowshoe trekking Aletsch ridge / Aletsch forest

Both the Aletsch Grattour snowshoe tour and the Aletschwald UNESCO tour start at Moosfluh—with a view of the Great Aletsch Glacier. Depending on the weather and conditions, the snowshoe guide will choose which winter hike in the Aletsch Arena is suitable.  

Aletsch Grattour snowshoe hike 

The Aletsch Grattour is a guided snowshoe tour that lasts about 3.5 hours. Accompanied by the snowshoe guide, you’ll take the gondola up to Moosfluh. This hike in the Aletsch Arena takes you toward Biel, passing through striking rock formations. On the broad mountain ridge, one of the many possible routes leads past Hohfluh to Riederfurka. Before descending to Riederalp, you can take a detour to the Pro Natura Center (Villa Cassel) as part of your snowshoeing adventure. If conditions permit, you’ll hike along the Casselweg to the Tiefblick viewing platform. From there, you’ll enjoy a spectacular view of the Gibidum Dam.

Aletschwald UNESCO 

Take the gondola up to Moosfluh. From there, you’ll hike down onto the 11,000-year-old moraine. High above the glacier and far away from everyday life, this winter hike in the Aletsch Arena lets you experience the enchanting fairy-tale forest and the wintry silence of the UNESCO World Heritage Site up close. On this snowshoe tour, gnarled Swiss stone pines and tracks left by hares, foxes, and squirrels will be your companions along the way. If you feel like it, you can stop for a break at the Riederfurka. If not, you can simply make a leisurely descent directly to Riederalp. Adventurous souls can venture down the direct descent during this snowshoe experience.
