Ski for free

Would you like to indulge your love of skiing and explore the Aletsch Arena at the same time, or simply have a good time with family and friends? Then grab yourself a free ski pass and simply load it onto your physical Swiss Pass card.

These are the benefits you enjoy with «Ski for free»

Up to your 20th birthday, you can take advantage of the «Ski for free» offer in the vast ski area of the Aletsch Arena throughout the winter season and get a free one-day ski pass every Saturday. What’s more, the SBB Snow’n’Rail offer means that you, your parents or any accompanying adults can get a 20% discount on the price of public transport from any station in Switzerland.

Get some initial experience on the snow for free

The first step is always the hardest, and it’s no different for skiing or snowboarding. That’s why the free two-hour taster courses run by the Aletsch Arena ski and snowboard schools offer beginners a chance to learn some basic skills. Rental equipment is available for free too, if needed. The course dates for winter 2023/24 are as follows:
  • Bettmeralp Ski School, on 16.12.2023
  • Riederalp Ski School, on 13.01.2024
  • Fiescheralp Ski School, on 20.01.2024

Good to know:

The free 1-day ski pass for Saturday is available online with the SwissPass.
The free one-day ski pass is available online from the webshop. The one-day “Schgi fer frii” ticket cannot be purchased at the resort. It must be loaded onto a physical SwissPass in advance. Showing the confirmation on your mobile phone is not enough.

As before: Multi-day ski passes available online or at the resort.
If you’re buying a multi-day ski pass, children and young people also ski for free on Saturday. The “Schgi fer frii” discount is automatically deducted when purchasing this ski pass. Saturday must therefore also be booked. The multi-day passes are available online and at Aletsch Bahnen ticket counters. They can be loaded onto a physical SwissPass or a Keycard.

SwissPass: How to get your red card.
If you don’t have a SwissPass card yet, you can apply for your personal SwissPass free of charge at public transport sales outlets. Plan this in good time as it can take several weeks for the SwissPass card to be sent out. When requesting a SwissPass, please take a valid ID card (or similar official document) and a current passport photo with you.

How come everyone under 20 can ski for free in the Aletsch Arena every Saturday?
“Schgi fer frii” is a winter sports promotion by Aletsch Bahnen. The aim is to get children and young people excited about skiing or snowboarding.

Arrival
The "Schgi fer frii" offer is very popular. To avoid possible waiting times, we recommend travelling to the Aletsch Arena via Fiesch-Fiescheralp.
