Among locals and regular visitors alike, the picturesque Fiescheralp is fondly known as "Kühboden", or ‘cow pasture’. The car-free village owes its nickname to the cows of the Fiesch farmers that spend their summers there. But it is not only the cows that enjoy the warm season high up in the mountain. Guests also get to bask in breathtaking nature, tranquillity, sunshine and superb air quality during their summer holidays. On the car-free Aletsch plateau, you soak up the sun from early in the morning until late in the evening. For extra energy, recharge your inner batteries at the energy spot at the nearby view point on Eggishorn. And in winter? You’re always first out on the mountain to ski the wide, perfectly groomed slopes of the Aletsch Arena ski area.

Everyday life on Fiescheralp in the Aletsch Arena is as unhurried as the cows’ grazing. Here at 2,212m above sea level, peace and quiet is not in short supply. And if you’re overcome by the urge to get some exercise, there’s hiking, biking and paragliding galore in the summer. In winter, the slopes are practically on your doorstep, so you can start having fun on the snow right away. As Fiescheralp is car-free, it can only be reached by gondola lift from Fiesch.

A glacier tour, a bike tour or climbing tour, a hike or a gondola lift ride up to the view point on Eggishorn: there’s a comprehensive programme of activities awaiting you on Fiescheralp for your summer holiday in Valais. In winter, it’s well worth experiencing the 11 kilometre sledge run down to Lax, doing some skiing and snowboarding or daring a tandem flight.

The best vantage points, called view points, are among the absolute highlights in the Aletsch Arena. All are easily accessible by cable car and each has a platform from which you can see the majestic Great Aletsch Glacier from a different perspective. From Fiescheralp you can reach the Eggishorn view point

On Fiescheralp, winter holidays are not just your usual winter holiday. You’re out on the freshly prepared slopes of the Aletsch Arena in no time at all, which have some special features to offer. For example, the downhill run from Eggishorn (black run) or the Skiline speed run are sure to get the adrenaline pumping. To ski on a black run, you need some practice, of course, and the skills to match – which you can acquire at the snow sports school in Fiesch, where there are courses on offer for young and old. In addition, Fiescheralp is a good starting point for ski tours. Then there’s the sledge ride down to Lax, which is also amazing fun: a 11 kilometre run that includes fast sections and sharp bends.

Dexterity, courage and a head for heights are useful qualities when climbing. Prove that you’ve got what it takes at the Eggishorn ropes park. With 300 metres of altitude difference to overcome, two to three solid hours of sheer climbing pleasure are guaranteed. The adventure includes thrilling traverses, vertical passages and frequent fabulous views of the Valais mountain panorama.
