The first trail stage leads you from Fieschertal to Fiesch. On this section, you have three trail options to choose from: the Gogwärgiweg, which is ideal for families; the wheelchair path along the Wysswasser; and the Bregeraweg. Upon reaching Fiesch, you cross the town and pass some memorable buildings: from the Hotel du Glacier, the oldest hotel in Fiesch, you walk past the schoolhouse, the Kreyghaus, and the Prefect’s house into the old village district Oberegg with its quaint houses. Through an alley, you reach the junction to Ernen. You head left towards Hotel Christania, pass the Milachra residential development, and follow the path that leads under the bypass road down to the power station. After crossing the bridge, you hike along the old mule track through the Ärnerfäld up to Ernen, which has been awarded the Wakker Prize for exemplary village preservation. From Ernen, you take the post bus back to Fiesch or Fieschertal.
