- Destination: Riederalp, top station of aerial cable car Mitte
From Hotel Belalp, the trail leads you down along the Steigle path to Aletschji. You then continue across the Leng Acker to the historic glacier ascent and the spectacular Belalp–Riederalp suspension bridge. Spanning 124 metres and hanging 80 metres above the ground, the bridge is the absolute highlight of the hike! As you cross the Massa Gorge, you’ll be treated to an impressive view of the snout of the Great Aletsch Glacier.
After the crossing, the route ascends via Silbersand into the so-called "Valley of Death." From here, you pass the Bischofsitz and follow a gently rising path through the mystical Aletsch Forest to the Riederfurka. The final section of this impressive hike is the descent to Riederalp.
