Pure tradition! According to an old custom, 100 men gather in Fiesch every year on December 5th to drive the evil spirits out of the village in a procession with their Trichjen (cowbells) before the Santigläis (St. Nicholas) arrives!
In the other communities of the Aletsch Arena, the custom is also practiced, especially by schoolchildren.
