### Trekking itinerary

#### Day 1

Brig (680 m) – Naters – Blatten (1,330 m) – Belalp (2,100 m)

Your adventure starts in Brig. From there, you hike via Naters up to Blatten bei Naters. If you want to save your energy for the days ahead or arrive too late, you can also travel this section comfortably by bus.

From Blatten, you continue uphill to Belalp. After the ascent, your first well-earned overnight stay awaits amid the Valais mountains. You can also shorten this section by taking the mountain lift.

One night at Chalet Sepp incl. half board (dormitory, double or single room)

#### Day 2

Belalp – suspension bridge – Riederalp (1.925m)

Today promises to be spectacular: you will experience a varied Alpine landscape and cross the suspension bridge – one of the highlights of this stage.

From Hotel Belalp, you hike down via the Steigle into the Aletschji. The route continues via Leng Acker to the historic glacier ascent and the impressive Belalp–Riederalp suspension bridge. At 124 metres long and 80 metres high, the bridge is the highlight of the tour! As you cross the Massa Gorge, you can enjoy an impressive view of the glacier snout of the Great Aletsch Glacier.

After crossing the bridge, you climb via Silbersand into the so-called ‘Valley of Death’. From here, the trail takes you past Bischofsitz and gently uphill through the mystical Aletsch Forest to Riederfurka. The final section of this impressive hike is the descent to Riederalp.

#### Day 3

Riederalp – Märjela – Gletscherstube

Now you can get close to the Great Aletsch Glacier. From Riederalp, the route takes you through the unique landscape of the Aletsch Arena to the Gletscherstube in Märjela.

Along the way, you can enjoy impressive views of the mountain and glacier landscape. In the evening, you stay overnight at the Gletscherstube – simple, authentic and surrounded by mountains.

Still have energy left? Take a detour to the edge of the glacier or enjoy the sunset or sunrise from the «Platta» viewpoint.

#### Option 1 for day 4

Guided glacier tour

A special experience awaits you today: together with a guide, you will venture onto the Great Aletsch Glacier.

Equipped with a climbing harness and crampons, you will discover the fascinating world of ice up close. Technical equipment is provided; pack warm, weatherproof clothing (including a hat and gloves) as well as suitable hiking boots or mountaineering boots.

After the glacier tour, you will hike on to Fiescheralp. You will then return to Brig by gondola and train.

#### Option 2 for day 4

Aspi-Titter suspension bridge

From the Gletscherstube, the tour takes you via the Burghütte and the Aspi-Titter suspension bridge down into the Fieschertal valley. If you still want more, you can extend the hike via Bellwald and the Rhône suspension bridge to Fiesch.

Afterwards, take the train back to Brig.

How about an extra day?

#### Extra day

Extend your trek with an additional . From the Gletscherstube, you hike to the cosy mountain hut and continue your journey towards Fiesch the next morning. This gives you a little more time to enjoy the Alpine landscape at your leisure.
