The situation above Bitsch has normalised.
There is no danger to guests and locals on Riederalp (in the entire Aletsch Arena).
An xclusion zone has been imposed, most of which fortunately lies outside the tourist area of the Aletsch Arena.
This exclusion zone was reduced as of 4.8.2023.
Getting there
The Aletsch Arena holiday destination can be reached without restrictions on all access roads and by public transport.
Cable cars
All mountain railways are outside the exclusion zone and are in regular operation.

Hiking trails
300 of 317 kilometres of the hiking trail network are open. The hiking trails around Riederhorn such as the Casselweg are open again. Please stay on the hiking trails around do not leave them.
The hike from Riederalp over the Knebelbrücke to Blatten and the theme trail from Blatten on the Massaweg to Ried-Mörel remain closed.

The Pro Natura Centre in Villa Cassel and Riederfurka Restaurant are outside the exclusion zone and are open for business as usual.
