Pro Natura Centre Aletsch

The Pro Natura Centre Aletsch, which opened in 1976, in Villa Cassel on Riederfurka, was the first nature conservation centre in Switzerland and as such plays a pioneering role. At the environmental education and nature conservation centre in Riederalp, everything centres on protecting the diverse flora and fauna of the Aletsch Arena. With its interesting and informative exhibitions, events and guided excursions, it is well worth a visit during your holidays in Valais. Villa Cassel was built at the beginning of the 20th century by wealthy Englishman Sir Ernest Cassel and used by him as a summer residence. After his death, the impressive building served as a hotel for several decades. Moreover, even today, it is still possible to spend the night there.
